But first, God

Last month we focused on dreaming big, and this month we are transitioning into confidence because it’s going to be really hard going after those big dreams if you don’t believe in yourself.

Before we can develop confidence within ourselves we must first develop confidence in the God who created us; on purpose for a purpose, each gift carefully thought out, each talent counted accordingly, each breath specific to His plan for you.

When you are confident that God has called you for this specific purpose, there is no stopping you.

Well, how do I develop this confidence in God?

  • Dig into His Word

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” NKJV

I have heard Pastor Eli Moreno from Changing Pointe Church  say over the years, “Much word, much God. Little word, little God. You only have as much of God as you have of His Word.”

How will you be confident in what God says about you if you don’t know what God says?

Learn what God says about you, spend time with God so He can speak to you. It’s so much more than just knowing that God says you’re fearfully and wonderfully made. There is something He wants to share with you each day in any part of His Word, if you’re willing to listen.

I am convinced that the more you spend in His Word - not as a religious task - but as a way to get to know God, your confidence will push past any limiting beliefs.

  • Stand on His Word

When you know what God says about you it’s easy to recognize the lies that are trying to destroy you. When you start going after your dreams, when you start that business, when you begin that fitness journey there will opposition. You may hear thoughts like, “who do you think you are? You’re just going to quit like you have before.” You may feel not good enough, not smart enough.. But that’s when God’s Word comes in. Because when you feel not good enough you can say OUT LOUD (emphasis on out loud is on purpose),

“I am the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on life... “ (Ephesians 2:10 VOICE)

“I am called by God, I am His special possession…” (1 Peter 2:9 NLT)

Don’t just read His Word, take it with you, use it as the sword that it is.

  • Put some action behind your faith

You’re reading God’s Word now, you’re standing on it defeating the lies that come against you, now what? This is where being a doer comes into play, where action begins to do the talking, where you aren’t just a comfy boat sitter, but your faith causes you to move OUT of the boat.

It’s easy to trust God when you’re sitting in the nice cozy boat while the waves rock. But what about when you step out and start doing what God has called you to do? How do you think Peter felt stepping out of the boat, going all out for God, having complete confidence in God? Do the things that scare you, that stretch you, that cause you to lean closer to God, where you NEED God. What has God called you to do that you’ve been sitting on?

I know there are big dreams on the inside of you. Go after them growing your confidence in the God who placed them on the inside of you by digging into His Word, standing on His Word, and taking action. You can do this by starting a reading plan today or finding a friend to go through the bible with.
